JBLM Flight Training Exercises, Aug. 12-21

Joint Base Lewis McChord has announced that they will be conducting Special Operations flight training in the vicinity, both day and night, from August 12 to August 21.  Their press release indicates there will be periods of increased air traffic to include low-flying helicopters and airplanes.

Airport Overview

Olympia Regional Airport is a general aviation public airport offering aircraft service and maintenance operations, flight instruction, hangars and tie down space, state and corporate aviation facilities, and land and buildings available for lease for aviation related use.

Passenger Airline Service

The Olympia Regional Airport does not have commercial passenger airline service.  The closest airports with passenger service are Seattle (SEA) and Portland (PDX). There are also currently no charter flight companies based at the Olympia Regional Airport.

Bush Prairie Habitat Conservation Plan

The Bush Prairie Habitat Conservation Plan is being developed to balance growth and the preservation of endangered species within the City of Tumwater and its urban growth area. The Habitat Conservation Plan will conserve these species by providing long-term habitat protection across a system of managed reserve areas. The City of Tumwater and the Port of Olympia are jointly developing the Habitat Conservation Plan through the terms of an Interlocal Agreement.
